How admission works
The school is part of the West Midlands Grammar Schools partnership and admits through its shared entrance test, which is provided by GL Assessment. Children sit two multiple-choice papers of about 50 to 60 minutes, made up of short timed sections in English comprehension, verbal reasoning, maths and non-verbal reasoning. There is no writing, and answers are recorded on a separate answer sheet. Scores are standardised for age, and the results are weighted 50% English and verbal reasoning, 25% non-verbal reasoning and 25% maths.
After looked-after children, the school automatically offers places to the first 25 highest-scoring Pupil Premium applicants who meet the qualifying score — a fixed number rather than a percentage of places — before filling the rest of the places in strict rank order.
