How admission works
The school admits through the Selective Eligibility Test (SET), which is shared by six Sutton schools. Stage 1 is two multiple-choice papers, Maths and English, of roughly 40 to 50 minutes each, with no verbal or non-verbal reasoning. Boys who pass Stage 1 are invited to Stage 2, which is two written papers, Maths and English, of around 45 minutes to 1 hour each. Sutton Grammar School, Wallington County Grammar School and Wilson's School share the same Stage 2 test. Passing does not guarantee a place, and each school sets its own pass mark after the papers are marked.
After looked-after children, the school sets aside 14 places for boys eligible for free school meals, up to 9 for sporting aptitude and up to 9 for musical aptitude, each ranked by test score. Remaining places go by rank order of score, with ties broken by distance from the school's front door, London Borough of Sutton addresses first. The Sport and Music Aptitude Tests take place on Saturday 10 October 2026.
