How admission works
The school is part of the Gloucestershire Grammar Schools group and admits through their shared entrance test, provided by GL Assessment. Children sit two multiple-choice papers of about 50 to 55 minutes each, covering verbal ability (comprehension, vocabulary and verbal reasoning), numerical reasoning and non-verbal reasoning. The test moves to a new provider, FSCE, for the summer 2027 test (2028 entry).
The Crypt School sets a lower qualifying score threshold for Pupil-Premium, looked-after and previously-looked-after applicants than for other candidates, and within those three priority categories ties are broken by straight-line distance from home to the school's main entrance (measured from the Ordnance Survey point) rather than by test score.
