How admission works
Buckinghamshire's grammar schools admit through the Buckinghamshire Secondary Transfer Test. It is a single stage of two papers, each about 60 minutes, taken on the same day, and it covers verbal, non-verbal and mathematical skills. Each area is scored for age and the three scores are added together to give one test score. Children at Buckinghamshire state primary schools are entered automatically. Others register with Buckinghamshire Council.
Borlase's prioritises up to 20 Year 7 places for catchment Pupil Premium children scoring 110-120, then separately reserves up to 15 places for children living in its defined 'Priority Admissions Area', which by policy are allocated purely by random lottery drawn in front of an independent witness rather than by distance.
