How admission works
The school is part of the Gloucestershire Grammar Schools group and admits through their shared entrance test, provided by GL Assessment. Children sit two multiple-choice papers of about 50 to 55 minutes each, covering verbal ability (comprehension, vocabulary and verbal reasoning), numerical reasoning and non-verbal reasoning. The test moves to a new provider, FSCE, for the summer 2027 test (2028 entry).
Sir Thomas Rich's has no sibling-priority category at all: after looked-after children, its own distinctive order goes straight to Pupil Premium boys, then to children of staff who have been employed at the school two-plus years (or filled a demonstrable skill-shortage post), before falling back to plain test rank order for everyone else.
