How admission works
The school is part of the West Midlands Grammar Schools partnership and admits through its shared entrance test, which is provided by GL Assessment. Children sit two multiple-choice papers of about 50 to 60 minutes, made up of short timed sections in English comprehension, verbal reasoning, maths and non-verbal reasoning. There is no writing, and answers are recorded on a separate answer sheet. Scores are standardised for age, and the results are weighted 50% English and verbal reasoning, 25% non-verbal reasoning and 25% maths.
After looked-after children, up to 30% of places (currently 54) go to boys receiving Pupil Premium, with priority to those at a state-funded Walsall primary school. Remaining places go to other qualifying boys by rank order of test score.
