How admission works
Kent's grammar schools admit through the Kent Test, part of the county's procedure for entry to secondary education (PESE). A child must be found suitable for a grammar school through the Kent Test to be considered for a place, and each school then applies its own admissions criteria when it has more suitable applicants than places.
Mayfield Grammar School, Gravesend ranks applicants using two tiers of named postcode areas (an inner tier including DA3, DA4, DA9-DA13, ME3 and part of TN15; an outer tier including DA1, ME2 and TN13-TN15), giving Free School Meals recipients first priority within each tier before ranking the rest by Kent Test score and then by proximity.
