How admission works
The school is part of the Gloucestershire Grammar Schools group and admits through their shared entrance test, provided by GL Assessment. Children sit two multiple-choice papers of about 50 to 55 minutes each, covering verbal ability (comprehension, vocabulary and verbal reasoning), numerical reasoning and non-verbal reasoning. The test moves to a new provider, FSCE, for the summer 2027 test (2028 entry).
After looked-after children, Marling places any Pupil Premium-eligible candidate ahead of all other qualifiers regardless of address, then ranks the rest by test score; ties are broken first by whether the child's primary school belongs to the Cotswold Beacon Academy Trust (Marling's own multi-academy trust) through at least December of Year 6, and only then by straight-line Ordnance Survey distance.
