How admission works
The school is part of the Gloucestershire Grammar Schools group and admits through their shared entrance test, provided by GL Assessment. Children sit two multiple-choice papers of about 50 to 55 minutes each, covering verbal ability (comprehension, vocabulary and verbal reasoning), numerical reasoning and non-verbal reasoning. The test moves to a new provider, FSCE, for the summer 2027 test (2028 entry).
Beyond the shared GL test, Denmark Road runs its own local-priority track for girls in postcodes GL1-GL4: within that group a lower 'Priority Standard' score (not the full Qualifying Standard) is enough to qualify, and Pupil Premium applicants from those same postcodes are ranked ahead of Pupil Premium applicants from elsewhere, up to a cap equal to the national Pupil Premium percentage of the school's 150-place intake.
