How admission works
Buckinghamshire's grammar schools admit through the Buckinghamshire Secondary Transfer Test. It is a single stage of two papers, each about 60 minutes, taken on the same day, and it covers verbal, non-verbal and mathematical skills. Each area is scored for age and the three scores are added together to give one test score. Children at Buckinghamshire state primary schools are entered automatically. Others register with Buckinghamshire Council.
Chesham Grammar sets aside up to 6 Year 7 places for catchment-area children receiving Pupil Premium who score 110-120 on the STT, below the normal 121 cut-off. Once other criteria are exhausted, places go by straight-line distance to the school's main entrance on White Hill.
