How admission works
Buckinghamshire's grammar schools admit through the Buckinghamshire Secondary Transfer Test. It is a single stage of two papers, each about 60 minutes, taken on the same day, and it covers verbal, non-verbal and mathematical skills. Each area is scored for age and the three scores are added together to give one test score. Children at Buckinghamshire state primary schools are entered automatically. Others register with Buckinghamshire Council.
Burnham Grammar reserves up to 6 Year 7 places for Pupil Premium or looked-after children scoring 115-120 on the STT (looked-after children may live anywhere; other children must be in the catchment area). Remaining ties after other criteria are broken by straight-line distance from home to the nearest school gate.
