How admission works
Buckinghamshire's grammar schools admit through the Buckinghamshire Secondary Transfer Test. It is a single stage of two papers, each about 60 minutes, taken on the same day, and it covers verbal, non-verbal and mathematical skills. Each area is scored for age and the three scores are added together to give one test score. Children at Buckinghamshire state primary schools are entered automatically. Others register with Buckinghamshire Council.
Beyond the standard 121 STT cut-off, AGS reserves up to 6 Year 7 places for Pupil Premium/looked-after boys scoring 115-120 (in catchment, or anywhere for looked-after children). The final distance tie-break measures straight-line distance to the school's main entrance gate on Walton Road, Aylesbury.
