How admission works
The school is part of the Trafford Grammar Schools Consortium and admits through its shared entrance test, provided by GL Assessment. Children sit two papers of about an hour each, made up of questions in verbal, non-verbal and maths skills. The five consortium schools share a qualifying standard: a combined, age-standardised score of 334 or more across both papers.
AGGS defines its catchment as an 8-mile radius from the school's main entrance. Within that area it prioritises Pupil Premium applicants first, then those with an older sister already at the school, then other catchment girls -- and repeats that same order (Pupil Premium, then sister, then others) for girls living outside the catchment, all resolved by distance to the school where needed.
